A gift for Sting

An art glass by Progetto Arte Poli

On the occasion of the private event organized by Villa D’Este in Cernobbio on August 9th, we had the privilege of presenting to Sting, an international icon of contemporary music, a unique artwork we created.

Once again, it was art that created the occasion to meet.

Progetto Arte Poli in fact created and delivered to Sting a special glass artwork inspired by Last Ship, the musical in which Sting revisits the world of the shipyards of his childhood and tells the story where work is presented as identity, dignity, belonging and the passing on of knowledge.

A story in which we recognized many of the values that also belong to our own history.

The art piece reinterprets The Last Ship poster through glass and was entirely hand-made by the artists and craftswomen of our atelier, through engraving, sandblasting, grisaille painting, and high-temperature firings.

There is also something deeply Italian in this artwork: the ability to transform material, skill and manual labor into beauty. That know-how which represents one of the most authentic expressions of the Made in Italy, and which meets Sting’s particular affinity for our country.

A bond with Italy that Sting and Trudie Styler have cultivated for years, also through Il Palagio, their estate in the heart of Tuscany, where land, the production of wine, oil and honey, tradition and care for one’s work become part of the same story. A world different from ours, but built on very similar values: quality, territory, people and know-how.

A meeting between different worlds, united by the same trust in the value of craft and of people.

Because what is born from knowledge, time and care can become something meant to last.

A special thank you to Tony Sasa

Thank you, Sting. Perhaps this is only the beginning.
