Overlooking the shores of Lake Maggiore in the center of Stresa, directly facing the Borromean Islands, the hotel has been a landmark of historical and hospitality excellence since its opening in 1908.
In 2005, to enhance the entrance from the inner garden, it was decided to commission an external canopy, along with a new hotel sign and a backlit mouth-blown glass ceiling.

The external canopy was constructed in Liberty style and to further enhance the inner garden entrance a matching liberty-style vestibule was created using mouth-blown glass with wrought iron decorations embellished with gold leaf decorations. Mouth-blown glass was also used for the interiors to illuminate and decorate the staircase, featuring a circular artistic stained glass ceiling.
