ST.JOHN PAUL II CENTRE, KRAKOW

The Chapel of Blessed Virgin Mary of Loreto and Italy situated inside the St. John Paul II Centre, is a sign of respect and gratitude to Polish soldiers who released the Italian Marche Region from the Nazi-Fascists, and to St. John Paul II who visited Loreto on several occasions, confirming the bond that the Polish and the people of Krakow, like him, had towards Marche. The making of the Chapel was promoted by Marcello Bedeschi, secretary of Anci Marche and President of the St. John Paul II and Youth Foundation and supported by the Marche Region and the Archbishop of Krakow Card. Stanislaw Dziwisz.
Besides the marble liturgical furniture Progetto Arte Poli made three mosaics: one, made of golden tesseraes is placed behind the Madonna sculpture in the presbytery, the other two, located on the lateral walls, depict the World Youth Day in Montorso (Loreto) and Saint John Paul II making a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the Holy House at the time he was not Pope yet.
